Farah Louis Wins Special Election for 45th District City Council Seat
Brooklyn’s 45th District has a new City Council member as of Wednesday morning, CBS News reported. Farah Louis won Tuesday’s special election, beating seven other contenders, to fill the seat left vacant by now-Public Advocate Jumaane Williams. Louis was his former chief of staff. Williams won a special election in February to serve as New York City’s public advocate.
The 45th district includes Midwood, Marine Park, parts of Flatbush, East Flatbush, Canarsie and Flatlands.
Louis will serve until the end of 2019, and then will have to run again in the June primary, which will decide which candidates will be facing off in the November election to complete the rest of Williams’ term in the City Council which extends through December 2021.
