Hundreds of Damage Claims Filed in South

The pecuniary aftermath of the Gaza rocket attacks is well under way, as indicated by figures released by the Israeli Tax Authority on Sunday.

Some 754 claims for government compensation have been filed by residents in southern Israel. Damage to buildings accounted for 522 claims, motor vehicles 207 claims, agricultural damage 15 claims and other miscellaneous damages 10 claims, according to Arutz Sheva.

The government said that approximately 95 percent of the damage sites have already been inspected and the claims are being processed.

The largest number of claims, 261, were filed in Ashdod. Ashkelon was second with 234 claims, followed by 28 in Kiryat Gat, 25 in Sderot, and 206 in smaller communities in the Gaza perimeter.

Ten families who were evacuated and placed in hotels, were assisted in returning to their homes or moved to alternative housing.
