Closings on Sunday for Five Boro Bike Tour

The MTA announced that the Staten Island-bound lower level of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge will be closing on Sunday, May 5, 2019 from 12:01 a.m. until 6 p.m. for the annual Five Boro Bike Tour. The upper level of the bridge will remain open throughout the event.

One Brooklyn-bound lane on the lower level will be closed from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m., and the Bay Street Exit will be closed from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The BQE approach (I-278) to the bridge will close from 9:30 a.m. until 6 p.m., and the 92nd Street exit ramp to the Staten Island-bound lower level, as well as the Belt Parkway entrance ramp to the lower level, will be closed from 12:01 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Traffic exiting the Hugh L. Carey (formerly Brooklyn-Battery) Tunnel in Brooklyn will be diverted to Hamilton Avenue between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., and the Trinity Place exit in Manhattan will also be closed between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

The ramp to the FDR Drive from the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge will be closed between 7:45 a.m. and 1 p.m. All Manhattan-bound traffic must exit at 125th Street.
