A day after Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and his brother Dr. Ido Netanyahu received the personal effects of Yoni Netanyahu Hy”d, who was killed in the Entebbe raid, it emerged that some may not have been genuine.

Among the suspicious items was a Passover Haggadah allegedly belonging to Yoni Netanyahu—which on closer inspection turned out to be printed four years after his death in 1976. Netanyahu did have a Haggadah with him in the army, but this wasn’t it.

Yosef Shemesh handed the belongings over to the Netanyahus in Yerushalayim on Tuesday, saying that he had served with Yoni in the IDF armored corps on the Golan Heights and had kept some of his effects, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office. There was no explanation as to what was the cause of the 43-year delay in returning them.

The package included a Passover Haggadah and other books, his army coveralls, a t-shirt, gloves, a sleeping bag and a compass.

The Netanyahus looked through the mementos and said how moved they were to have them back.

Shemesh had previously tried to sell some of the items to auction houses, but was turned away because buyers suspected the items were not authentic, Ynet reported.
