Labor MK Blames Death Threats on PM

YERUSHALAYIM

Labor MK Stav Shaffir has blamed Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu for the death threats she has received since petitioning for the disqualification of the far-right party Otzma Yehudit from running for Knesset.

“I don’t blame the extremists, I blame only one: Prime Minister Netanyahu,” she told a party gathering in Haifa, according to Ynet.

“Instead of calming things, he’s the one standing at the head of the posse.”

Last Thursday, police arrested an Otzma Yehudit supporter on suspicion of having sent the threats.

In the meantime, Shaffir has been assigned a bodyguard.

PM Netanyahu, who was instrumental in persuading the United Right party to form an electoral alliance with Otzma Yehudit, has said that criticism of him for doing so is hypocritical in view of the left wing’s willingness to form alliances with anti-Zionist Arab parties.

He has made no statement so far regarding Shaffir.
