A screencap from security cameras shows the car on the sidewalk. Despite a yeshivah staff member (right) yelling at him, the driver, after allowing some children to pass, drives down the sidewalk.

A driver uninterested in waiting behind a school bus unloading children drove down the sidewalk in front of a Boro Park yeshivah.

The incident occurred Wednesday morning, as preschool children were exiting the bus in front of Talmud Torah Imrei Chaim Viznitz, on 53rd Street between 18th and 19th Avenues. Surveillance footage shows a car behind the buses jump the curb. A yeshiva staff member yells at the driver, but, after allowing some startled children to pass, he drives on the sidewalk around the buses, and returns to the street near the corner.

Video of the incident was widely circulated on social media, and a school administrator told Hamodia that the driver has been in contact with the school, is remorseful and has offered to publicly apologize.

“We released this video so that people should be aware of how they drive,” the administrator, who asked not to be identified, told Hamodia. “People should drive carefully, especially around children. Better safe than sorry.”
