Emergency Atzeres Tefillah Called as Skulener Rebbe’s Condition Deteriorates

The Skulener Rebbe’s family have called for an emergency atzeres tefillah for Thursday night at the Skulener beis medrash in Boro Park, due to a sharp deterioration in the Rebbe’s health.

The atzeres will begin with the recital of Tehillim, followed by drashos by Rabbanim of the community and also from one of the sons of the Rebbe, shlita.

The atzeres tefillah was called for after a medical procedure that the Rebbe underwent earlier this week was unsuccessful. The Rebbe returned home from Cornell Medical Center late Monday night.

The tefillos will begin at 8:30 p.m. at the Skulener beis medrash, 1315 54th Street, Brooklyn.

Earlier this week, the Rebbe’s eldest son, Harav Yeshaya Yaakov Portugal, Rav of Khal Meor HaGolah in Montreal, issued a heartfelt plea for increased tefillos: “The tzaddik hador is in need of tremendous rachamei Shamayim that he should be able to remain with us in good health,” he said in a public message. “Klal Yisrael’s koach is to use our mouths for tefillah … tefillah is avodah sheb’lev and needs to be with our whole hearts.”

Klal Yisrael is urged to continue to daven and increase limud haTorah for the refuah sheleimah of Harav Yisrael Avraham ben Sheina Rochel, b’soch she’ar cholei Yisrael.
