Netanyahu Meets Putin’s Envoy for Syria
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu met with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s special envoy for Syrian affairs at the Prime Minister’s Office in Yerushalayim on Tuesday evening.
Among the issues discussed were Iran and the situation in Syria, and strengthening the security coordination mechanism between the two nations’ militaries in order to prevent friction.
The special envoy, Alexander Lavrentiev, and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin attended the meeting, along with Israeli National Security Adviser Meir Ben-Shabbat and GOC Operations Maj.-Gen. Aharon Haliva.
The Russian representatives reiterated Russia’s commitment to the maintenance of Israel’s national security.
