Worker Dies in Mixing Machine Accident at Cheese Co.

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – An employee died tragically in a workplace accident when he was found inside a mixing machine at the Icco Cheese Co., The Associated Press reported. Edwin Nunez, 41, was making grated Italian-style cheeses. The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.

Woman Admits Collecting Dead Mother’s Pension

MAYS LANDIJNG, N.J. – A woman was arrested for stealing $140,000 in state pension benefits that were mistakenly paid to her mother for eight years after she died, The Associated Press reported. Diana Heil, 49, pleaded guilty on Friday and will receive a 364-day county jail term. She also must repay all funds.

Murphy Names Booker Aide as Next Chief of Staff

TRENTON – New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy on Friday picked an aide to Sen. Cory Booker to be his next chief of staff, The Associated Press reported. George Helmy will manage the governor’s office, executive branch and Cabinet agencies.

Elderly Woman Killed When Own Car Rolls Over Her

BROOKLYN – An elderly woman died in a tragic accident Saturday when her car rolled over her as she was opening her garage door, The Associated Press reported. Alba Mazza, 88, drove up to the garage and got out — but the car suddenly rolled forward, knocking her down.
