An IDF soldier was moderately wounded when terrorists from the Gaza Strip opened fire at his unit Tuesday afternoon near the Kissufim crossing, the IDF spokesman said.

Shortly before the shooting, terrorists broke through the security fence, sabotaged military equipment, and returned to the Gaza Strip.

The IDF said that a tank attacked a Hamas observation post after the officer was wounded.

The soldier was shot in the upper body and was evacuated to the Soroka Hospital in Be’er Sheva.

Earlier in the day, an IDF tank fired at a Hamas post in the Gaza Strip in response to terrorists firing at IDF troops operating on the fence.

No Israelis were wounded in that incident.
