Police early Wednesday arrested 12 people in Arab neighborhoods of Yerushalayim. The arrests were made in advance of Democratic Front Day, a day dedicated to activities by the terror group that operates in Palestinian Authority-controlled areas and in Gaza.

The Democratic Front is a terror group, and membership in it or activities on its behalf are illegal. Police said that the detainees were all activists in the group, and were arrested because they were planning acts of unrest this week, when the foundation of the organization is celebrated. Three of the detainees were caught red-handed throwing stones at Israeli vehicles on Mt. Scopus, and others were arrested for throwing firebombs at Israeli vehicles last week. Police said that they would continue to work to prevent the organization of terror activities in Yerushalayim.

In addition, Israeli security officers raided a university in the Abu Dis section of the city, where terrorist activity was being organized, the IDF said. Officers seized materials that were being used to organize attacks. Much of the material reflected a strong presence of Hamas activity in the university.

Overnight Tuesday, security officials said they arrested seven wanted security suspects in other areas in Yehudah and Shomron. The suspects were wanted for participating in rioting and throwing stones and firebombs that endangered Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers. Several of the suspects were also charged with belonging to Hamas. All were being questioned on their activities by security forces.
