Remains of NY Soldier Killed in Korean War Being Returned Home
The remains of a New York soldier killed 68 years ago during the Korean War are scheduled to be returned for burial in his upstate New York hometown.
The family of Army Pfc. John Martin says a Delta flight carrying the casket with his remains is scheduled to land Friday at Albany International Airport.
An Army honor guard will transfer the casket to a hearse that will take Martin’s remains to a funeral home in the town of Saratoga, 25 miles north of Albany.
Burial with full military honors is set for Sunday afternoon in a cemetery outside the village of Schuylerville.
The Pentagon announced last week that Martin’s remains had been identified. He was killed during fighting near the Chosin Reservoir in North Korea. His remains were found in 2001.
