Israeli police on Motzoei Shabbos arrested Adnan Ghaith, the Palestinian Authority official in charge of Yerushalayim, Arab media sources said. The arrest took place in the neighborhood of Beit Hanina. The arrest followed another one earlier in the day, of Colonel Jihad Faqeeh, head of the PA’s Yerushalayim Intelligence Agency. He was arrested at a checkpoint near the city. PA activity is illegal in Yerushalayim, and police occasionally arrest PA representatives who operate in Arab neighborhoods of the city. Police did not comment on the reports.

IDF soldiers overnight Motzoei Shabbos discovered and dismantled a weapons cache that was stored in a house in Chevron. Several weapons and associated materials, including ammunition, were removed. The residents of the house were arrested and questioned on the source of the weapons.

The suspects were wanted for participating in rioting and throwing stones and firebombs that endangered Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers. Several of the suspects were also charged with belonging to Hamas. All were being questioned on their activities by security forces.
