Preparations for The Shabbos Project In Full Swing

Preparations for this year’s Shabbos Project in Staten Island, scheduled for Shabbos Parashas Vayeira, October 26-27, are in full swing.

Once again, the Young Israel of Staten Island will be participating in the Shabbos Project and encourages the community to take this opportunity to invite neighbors, family, and coworkers to join us for a beautiful and inspiring Shabbos.

If you are hosting people, or would like to sponsor the Shabbos Project, please email Rabbi Joshua Sturm at office@yisi.org so they can better coordinate the entire Shabbos.

Registration is filling up for the annual Great Big Staten Island Challah Bake, which will be held at the Young Israel of Staten Island, 835 Forest Hill Road, on Thursday evening October 25 at 7:30.

The program will include an inspiring talk by noted mechaneches Mrs. Rochel Chafetz, spirited dancing led by Mrs. Baila Caller, and of course, challah baking!

Each table of women will be led by a “Challah Coach,” a woman who knows how to make challah well and will guide each woman at her table towards making a beautiful challah of their own.

The Shabbos Project will once again be distributing a stunning set of candlesticks to women who commit to keeping Shabbos, following last year’s event where seven women committed to keeping Shabbos!
