Miraculous Survival of Woman Wounded in Barkan Attack

YERUSHALAYIM

Sara Vaturi, the person who was wounded but survived the terror attack in Barkan that left two others dead, told reporters on Monday about the miracle that saved her.

Speaking from her hospital bed on Monday, she gave an account of the harrowing experience:

“I came to work in the morning as usual, I said good morning to everybody,” the 54-year-old Vaturi began.

She recalled stepping outside her office when she heard something suspicious.

Ashraf Walid Suleiman Na’alowa had in fact just murdered Kim Levengrond Yehezkel, Hy”d, 28, and, confronted by Vaturi, he fired at her too.

“He shot me,” Vaturi, who was wounded in the stomach, recounted. “I escaped into my office, went under the desk, put a hand on my wound, realized I was bleeding and all I could think was to breathe and everything will be okay. And then I heard four or five more loud gunshots.”

Later, it would be revealed that those were the shots that killed 35-year-old Ziv Hajbi, Hy”d.

All three were her colleagues at the Alon Group factory in the Barkan Industrial Park near Ariel in the Shomron.

“I curled up under the desk. He came back to my office, I saw his legs, the jeans and sneakers. After a second or two he was gone and there was silence,” Vaturi said.

After a few minutes, paramedics arrived and evacuated her to a hospital.

“They were angels,” she said. “Fortunately, they told me that I sustained no internal damage. The bullet entered and exited without harming internal organs, and today I’m going home.

“I am saddened for my friends. Kim, a young mother, who would come every morning to the factory with a smile, and she would show me pictures of her son … She was an amazing woman,” Vaturi said.

“Ziv, father of three children whom I met when he brought them in to work during a summer vacation. He was a charming man … it hurts in an extraordinary way,” she said.
