In the wake of the murder of Ari Fuld Hy”d, U.S. Ambassador to Israel David M. Friedman condemned the Palestinian Authority for its ‘unconscionable’ practice of paying families’ of terrorists a monthly stipend.

“The Palestinian Prisoner Affairs Commission has confirmed that the family of the terrorist who murdered Ari Fuld is “eligible to receive a monthly salary” as compensation for his incarceration,” Friedman tweeted. “This practice is unconscionable and must stop if there is to be any hope for peace.”

Palestinian officials in Ramallah on Thursday denied a reports that the PA had paid 14,000 shekels to the family of Fuld’s murderer Khalil Jabarin, calling them “blatant lies.”

However, that only means that they hadn’t done so yet. It doesn’t mean that they wouldn’t make such payments.

A PA official was quoted by The Jerusalem Post as saying that Jabarin’s family could indeed be entitled in the future to financial support from the PA.

“If the family applies for financial aid, we will consider it positively,” he said. “But this is a process that could take several weeks or months.” He said that so far the family has not requested financial aid from the PA.
