Kings Plaza Parking Garage Blaze Brought Under Control


Kings Plaza mall is closed Monday as the FDNY is fighting a seven-alarm blaze that tore through a multistory parking garage at the mall, located at Avenue U and Flatbush Ave.

The FDNY received the call at 8:30 a.m. Two stories of the four-story garage were ablaze, before the fire was brought under control at 11:41 a.m.


Eighteen firefighters and three civilians have suffered injuries; none are considered life-threatening. The FDNY says that once the blaze is extinguished, fire marshals will seek to determine the cause.
