NYC Among Worst-Run Cities In America, Study Finds

NEW YORK – For the second year, NYC ranks among the three worst-run cities in the country. A WalletHub study created a score based on 35 metrics from debt to crime to air pollution and unemployment. The Big Apple’s heavy long-term debt weighed on its rating.

Police Revive Child Found Unresponsive in Pool

NEWARK – Police officers late Sunday resuscitated a 2-year-old girl who drowned in a Newark swimming pool, The Associated Press reported. Police bodycam video shows officers hitting the child on her back as she struggled to breathe. The girl then started crying.

60-Year-Old Man Crashes Go-Kart Into Tree, Dies

HOLMDEL, N.J. – A man celebrating at a birthday party Sunday night crashed a go-kart into a tree and died, The Associated Press reported. Party guests were taking turns using the go-kart in the driveway. The go-kart didn’t have a restraint and Boris Serebrenik wasn’t wearing a helmet.

New State Law Allows Sale of Beer Ice Cream

ALBANY – New Yorkers are now allowed to purchase beer or cider ice cream after Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday signed a bill into law. The frozen products must contain no more than 5 percent alcohol and prohibit sales to anyone younger than 21.

Man Rudely Awakens When Boa Constrictor Falls on Him

PULASKI, N.Y. – A man got a rude awakening when a large snake fell from his bedroom ceiling and landed on him while he slept, The Associated Press reported. The 6-foot-long red-tailed boa constrictor had escaped its enclosure in an upstairs apartment.
