Reb Moshe Gewirtz, z”l, General-Secretary of the Vaad Hapoel of the World Agudas Yisrael based in Yerushalayim was niftar on Monday night. He was eighty-six. The son of a devout Sanzer Chassid, who was extremely close to the Klausenberger Rebbe, zt”l, Reb Moshe worked for Agudas Yisrael for over sixty years.
He served as secretary for Harav Yitzchak Meir Levin, zt”l, along with Reb Chaim Weinstock, z”l, and Reb Avraham Hirsch, z”l, and was involved in arranging the Knessios Gedolos of Agudas Yisrael that took place in Eretz Yisrael. Reb Moshe was in close contact with international Agudah leaders, such as Rabbi Moshe Sherer, z”l, in the United States and Rabbi Yitzchok Meir Zimmerman in England, and was very involved in helping the immigrants who arrived in Eretz Yisrael from the Soviet Union.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Esther Gewirtz, his sons Reb Meir, Reb Yakov Pinchas, and Reb Yisrael, and grandchildren,
