Police Arrest 13 African Migrants on Rioting Charges

Overnight Sunday, police arrested 13 African migrant workers on charges of rioting and disturbing the peace. The arrests took place in the Neve Shaanan neighborhood of Tel Aviv.

The riot, in which dozens of people participated, pitted supporters of the regime in Eritrea against opponents. Several of the rioters were injured, and one police officer was arrested as police tried to control the crowd. Eight of the 13 detainees were taken to court Monday morning for an extension of their remand.
