A Lod jeweler who had gone missing on Wednesday was found dead in the Modiin forest early Friday, police said. The remains of Boris Botreshvili, 56, z”l, were found in the forest with signs of violence on his body. Police are investigating, but sources say they believe that Botreshvili was murdered.

Botreshvili was found after a call came in at 4:52 a.m. Friday that a hiker in the Modiin Forest had found a body covered in a blanket. Magen David Adom rescue workers were rushed to the scene, but were unable to do anything for him.

Botreshvili was last seen in Modiin on Wednesday morning, where he had gone for a business meeting. He failed to show up for an appointment Wednesday afternoon, and responding to a call that he had gone missing, police opened an investigation. One arrest has been made in connection with the case, but police said that the investigation was still open. They have not ruled out any motives, including nationalistic ones, police said.

Speaking to reporters Wedneday, family members expressed fear that Botreshvili had been murdered. “He was one of the most honest and kind individuals you have ever met, he did only good for others,” the family members told Yediot Acharonot. “We saw him just last night, and now he has disappeared. We are very concerned that something has happened.”
