Homeless Turning Seattle Jewish Cemeteries Into Dumps
A community in Seattle says homeless people living near Jewish cemeteries are littering the cemeteries with, garbage and waste.
KOMO reported that families with ancestors buried in Bikur Cholim and Historic Sephardic Jewish are asking local authorities to do something.
Bikur Cholim congregant Ari Hoffman says what’s happening at the cemeteries shouldn’t happen in a civilized society.
The city of Seattle says there are more than 400 unsanctioned encampments in the city and they’re prioritized based on public health and safety.
Officials say the city’s homeless response team will continue reaching out to homeless people in the area and determine next steps.
