Ex-MVC Clerk Admits to Bribery Scheme for Permits, Licenses

A former New Jersey motor vehicle commission clerk has admitted running a scheme in which he got tens of thousands of dollars in return for allowing more than 200 people to obtain permits and licenses without passing required exams.

Rodman Lora pleaded guilty Monday to conspiracy, computer criminal activity and tampering with public records. State prosecutors will recommend that the 39-year-old Ridgewood, New York man receive a seven-year prison term when he’s sentenced on June 15.

Authorities say Lora entered passing test scores for dozens of people who paid him an average of more than $700.

Two other men involved in the scheme also pleaded guilty on Monday.

One was a “runner” for Lora who brought him customers, while the other owns a school bus company and sent people seeking commercial driver’s licenses to Lora.
