Five bungalows in Camp Shira were destroyed in a fire early Thursday morning. There were no injuries.
The Times Herald-Record reports that the fire began in one of the unoccupied bungalows in the camp on Norris Road in Monticello, and heavy winds spread it to four adjacent bungalows.
Capt. Mike Bastone of the Monticello Fire Department said the first alarm was sounded around 5:15 a.m., and the fire was brought under control in about an hour.
An initial determination by investigators is that the fire was caused by electrical wires brought down by the wind.
