Officials Arrest PA Legislature Member on Terror Charges

In a joint operation, the Shin Bet, IDF and Israel Police arrested early Sunday Khalad Jarar, a member of the Palestinian legislature, and a top member of the Popular Front terror group. A second Popular Front terrorist was arrested along with her. Jarar and her colleague were arrested and charged with incitement and helping to encourage terror attacks on several specific occasions.

Jarar had previously served a year and a half in prison on similar charges. She was arrested in June 2015 and plead guilty to charges that she had incited terrorists to carry out attacks during the previous months. She was released in the summer of 2016.

Overnight Motzoei Shabbos, security officials said they had arrested nine wanted security suspects in Yehudah and Shomron. The suspects were wanted for participating in rioting and throwing stones and firebombs that endangered Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers. Several of the suspects were also charged with belonging to Hamas. All were being questioned on their activities by security forces.

Early Sunday, police and Shin Bet agents arrested 17 suspects in the Negev of arms smuggling and smuggling of forbidden substances. The detainees were members of a large Bedouin criminal gang, which was infiltrated after months of undercover work by security officers. Police said further arrests were expected.
