Early Monday, IDF soldiers arrested an Arab who was found to have in his possession large amounts of ammunition and firecrackers. The materials were found in a home in the Shomron village of Salfit, near Ariel. The Arab was arrested and the materials were seized. Arab terrorist use permits to import firecrackers and fireworks – used to celebrate weddings – in order to create bombs and weapons to be used against Israelis.
Soldiers also seized weapons hidden in a vehicle near Shavei Shomron, in central Shomron. The vehicle was examined at a checkpoint, with soldiers paying attention to what they said was the terrorists’ suspicious behavior. Two residents of a village near Ramallah were arrested, and the vehicle was impounded.
Overnight Sunday, security officials said they arrested 12 wanted security suspects in other areas in Yehuda and Shomron. The suspects were wanted for participating in rioting and throwing stones and firebombs that endangered Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers. Several of the suspects were also charged with belonging to Hamas. All were being questioned on their activities by security forces.
