Firefighters Turn Yellow Fighting Fire at Hair Dye Co.

PATERSON, N.J. – Firefighters turned a vibrant yellow while fighting a blaze at a hair dye facility Sunday afternoon, NJ.com reported. They had to be decontaminated after successfully containing a fire at the Passaic Color and Chemical Co.

Perth Amboy Fire Chief Dies Suddenly

PERTH AMBOY, N.J. – Authorities are investigating the death of Perth Amboy’s fire chief, Abraham Pitre, who died suddenly Saturday at age 44, the Home News Tribune reported. Pitre, a 24-year fire veteran, was the city’s first Hispanic chief.

NYPD Beefs Up Presence at Mosques After London Attack

NEW YORK – The NYPD beefed up security near mosques around New York City “out of an abundance of caution” Monday following a London attack where a driver plowed into worshippers, The Associated Press reported.

Playland Pool to get Nearly $10 Million Upgrade

RYE, N.Y. – Westchester lawmakers on Monday OKed nearly $10 million to renovate the pool at the county-owned Playland amusement park, the Journal News reported. This is part of a deal to hand the 90-year-old pool to a private company.

NEW YORK – A drunk who says NYC didn’t prevent him from unbuckling himself and jumping out of a moving ambulance is suing, The Associated Press reported. Yaugeni Kralkin, 54, had to be forced into the ambulance by police.

Teen Killed When Bulldozer Runs Over Him

HAMLIN, N.Y. – A teenager driving a bulldozer Thursday was killed when the machine somehow ran over him, The Associated Press reported. Gino Valle was 19.
