Couple Married 70 Years Dies Just Hours Apart

A Long Island couple married for 70 years died Monday just hours apart at their assisted living residence.
Ruth Bauer, 92, died around 7 a.m. in Glen Cove. Her 97-year-old husband William Bauer passed away 11 hours later.
The New York City natives met in the early 1940s at a bank where they both worked. They married in 1946 after William Bauer returned from serving with the Navy during World War II. They are survived by three children and five grandchildren.
