2 Convicted 
in Bridge Plot File for New Trial

NEWARK (AP) —

Two former aides to Gov. Chris Christie convicted in the George Washington Bridge lane-closing case filed for a new trial Friday, a week after a federal jury found them guilty on all counts.

Bridget Kelly and Bill Baroni’s attorneys argued that jurors should have been instructed to acquit if they didn’t believe the two had conspired to punish Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich. The judge disagreed, ruling the government only had to prove that the two conspired to break the law.
