Accused NY Bomber to Appear in Federal Court in Manhattan
A man accused of setting off bombs in New Jersey and New York has been brought to Manhattan to face federal terrorism charges.
The office of U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara says Ahmed Khan Rahimi was awaiting a court appearance Thursday.
He previously pleaded not guilty in New Jersey to charges related to a shootout with police officers in Linden.
Rahimi is accused of detonating a pipe bomb along the route of a Marine Corps charity race in Seaside Park, New Jersey, and planting two pressure cooker bombs in New York City.
One of those devices did not explode. The other one detonated in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood, injuring 30 people.
His attorneys have previously declined to comment.
