Shooting Attack in Gush Etzion; No Injuries

IDF forces converged on the Gush Etzion community of Carmei Tsur, after Arabs opened fire on an Israeli vehicle traveling near the town. Witnesses said that Arabs in a passing vehicle opened fire on the Israeli car. Equipment and weapons related to the attack were found in the area. No one was injured in the incident. Soldiers were searching for the perpetrators.

Overnight Friday, an Arab terrorist attempted to run down and stab Israeli soldiers at a checkpoint near the Binyamin community of Ofra. The terrorist approached soldiers with a vehicle, stopped, and then jumped out of the vehicle waving a knife. Soldiers shot and injured him seriously. He was taken to an Israeli hospital for treatment.

In a separate incident late Friday afternoon, an Arab terrorist attempted to enter the area of Me’aras Hamachpelah carrying a knife. He was arrested and under questioning admitted that he had planned to carry out a stabbing terror attack.

Meanwhile, on Motzoei Shabbos Israeli defense troops arrested an Israeli who had what was described as a large amount of weapons and ammunition in his vehicle. The Israeli was attempted to cross an Israeli checkpoint when the items were discovered. He was detained and the ammunition and weapons confiscated.
