A yellow Cab was sliced in half today when it was struck by an Amtrak train in southwest Birmingham.

According to AL.com, Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service responded to the scene on Tuesday at 2:42 p.m. BFRS Capt. Bryan Harrell says when they arrived the cab was destroyed but the driver was up and walking around.

Harrell says the driver didn’t have any obvious injuries, but was transported to a hospital as a precaution.

Authorities say there were no injuries to passengers aboard the Amtrak.

Harrell says, “It looks like somebody tried to beat the train,” adding, “He might have gotten out of the car before it got hit.”
