Thursday was set to be the busiest travel day in the summer seasons, with an expected 85,000 passengers traveling both to and from Israel.

Data from the Israel Airport Authority shows that 489 international flights are traveling in and out of Israel on Thursday making it the busiest day of the year for Ben Gurion Airport.

Greece is the country to which Israelis most frequently travel and has in recent years seen a significant increase in the number of Israeli visitors. Turkey is the second most popular destination of Israelis, while the U.S., Italy and Germany follow respectively.

Airport Authority figures for the record-breaking year show that this summer alone some 2 million passengers have passed though Israel, marking a 6-percent increase compared to the summer of 2015.
