Police Arrest Terrorist Suspected of Yerushalayim Stabbing Attack

Yerushalayim police revealed Wednesday that they arrested a man suspected of stabbing an 18-year-old Israeli on Har Hazeisim last Thursday.

The suspect, 19-year-old Ahmad Naim A-Ashair, is from the A-Tur neighborhood in Yerushalayim.

Although police captured A-Ashair on Tuesday, the arrest was not cleared for publication until Wednesday afternoon.

Forces were able to apprehend A-Ashair based on information gathered from intelligence sources. The 18-year-old victim of the stabbing attack suffered light to moderate injuries.

Upon investigation by security forces, the terrorist revealed that he had stabbed the yeshivah student with a board sharpened at its edge.

In addition, it was revealed that the terrorist had previously been involved in firebomb attacks and had hurled explosives at security forces.

The stabbing attack occurred last Thursday as the victim  returned from davening at the keverof the Nesivos Shalom of Slonim, zy”a, on Har Hazeisim, on the day of the Rebbe’s yahrtzeit .

A-Ashair stabbed the yeshiva student across his upper body, then fled.
