The IDF on Tuesday started a new campaign to track down and seize illegal weapons that are in the hands of Arab terror groups in the Chevron area. Local sources said Tuesday that large contingents of IDF soldiers had surrounded several villages there.

In a statement, the IDF said that it had sent a contingent of troops to the El Fawar refugee camp outside Chevron. Local residents began rioting and threw stones and rocks at the soldiers, who responded with anti-riot measures. Several rioters were lightly injured. The army said that the camp was the source of several terror attacks in the area.

Overnight Monday, security officials said they arrested six wanted security suspects in other areas in Yehudah and Shomron. The suspects were wanted for participating in rioting and throwing stones and firebombs that endangered Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers. Several of the suspects were also charged with belonging to Hamas. All were being questioned on their activities by security forces.
