YERUSHALAYIM

An attempted terror attack on Israeli soldiers at a security checkpoint in the Shomron was thwarted on Sunday evening, according to media reports.

The Palestinian assailant emerged from a car at the checkpoint near Shaked, west of Jenin, then pulled out a knife out and lunged at the soldiers, but they subdued her before she could do serious harm.

One soldier was lightly injured in the incident and was treated at the scene.

The terrorist was put under arrest and taken in for questioning.

Since October, 35 Israelis and four foreign nationals have been killed in a wave of Palestinian stabbing, car-ramming, and shooting attacks. At least 214 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli security forces in the same period, some two-thirds of them while carrying out attacks against Israelis, and the rest during clashes with troops, mostly in Yehudah and Shomron, according to the IDF.
