It will be a hot and humid Tishah B’Av weekend in New York City. Forecasters are predicting hazy conditions over the next few days.

Temperatures will be in the 90s through Sunday, which is Tishah B’Av, although the humidity will make it feel like it’s 115 degrees. A possible thunderstorm Sunday night will partially break the steamy weather and it will swoop down to the 70s.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory through Saturday 8:00 a.m., and an excessive heat watch until 10:00 Sunday night.

To prepare for the taanis, it is better to drink water throughout the day leading into it. A cupful every hour is recommended. Caffeinated drinks such as soda or coffee dehydrates the body and should be avoided.
