West Point Marks End of Training With Long March

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The new class of West Point cadets is finishing summer training with a 12-mile march before sunrise Monday, The Associated Press reported. It symbolizes the end of six weeks of intense training designed to acclimate the cadets to the rigors of military life.

Assistant Brooklyn DA Arrested for Drunk Driving

BROOKLYN – An assistant district attorney in Brooklyn was arrested early Saturday for drunk driving after he ran a red light in Canarsie, The Associated Press reported. Chrismy Sagaille, 31, has worked for DA Ken Thomson since 2013.

NYC Firefighters Rescues Man Stuck in Chimney

NEW YORK – Firefighters rescued a man who got stuck in a chimney Saturday morning after drinking on the roof of a seven-story building in Lower Manhattan, the Daily News reported. He was 13 feet into the chimney when he got stuck.

Jury Convicts Man of Killing NY State Trooper in ‘14

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – A Florida man who deliberately drove into a New York state trooper issuing him a ticket was convicted Friday of first-degree murder, The Associated Press reported. A jury found Almond Upton, 62, guilty of the 2014 death of Trooper Chris Skinner, 42. He faces 20 years to life in prison.
