Attempted Stabbing Thwarted Near Shechem

IDF soldiers prevented a terror stabbing at the Hawara checkpoint near Shechem, Sunday afternoon. Soldiers examining the belongings of an Arab who had raised their suspicions suddenly exited his vehicle and charged at the troops with a knife.
The wannabe terrorist was shot with three to four rounds to the chest and seriously injured. He later died from his wounds. B’chasdei Shamayim, no soldiers were injured in the incident.
Following the incident, security forces closed entrance to Shechem to allow emergency crews arrive at the scene.
The Palestinian Health Ministry later identified the terrorist as 31-year-old Rami Awartani.
Last Tuesday, an 18-year-old Palestinian woman was shot in the legs after she attempted to stab IDF soldiers at the Kalandiya checkpoint, near Yerushalayim.
Her attempt to cross the car lane by foot aroused the suspicion of the security guards at the checkpoint. When the guards called on her to stop, she lunged towards them but they managed to apprehend her. Later they discovered a knife in her bag.
