IDF soldiers on Wednesday morning prevented a car-ramming attack against soldiers north of Yerushalayim. The Arab approached soldiers at the A-Ram checkpoint in a car and refused to slow down.

The IDF says the officers, who are with Israel’s paramilitary border police, were confiscating an arms-manufacturing machine when the car accelerated toward them.

Soldiers shot and killed the driver, injuring a passenger, who was taken to the Hadasah Ein Kerem hospital for treatment. Soldiers arrested a third person who was in the vehicle, uninjured. No Israeli forces were injured in the incident.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health identified the dead man as 22-year-old Anwar al-Salaymeh.

Overnight Tuesday, security officials said they arrested 13 wanted security suspects in other areas in Yehudah and Shomron. The suspects were wanted for participating in rioting and for throwing stones and firebombs which endangered Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers. Several of the suspects were also charged with belonging to Hamas. All were being questioned on their activities by security forces.
