Israeli Man Spotted Crossing Into Gaza

YERUSHALAYIM (AP/Hamodia) —

The Israeli military says an Israeli man was spotted crossing the border fence into the Gaza Strip and is believed to still be inside the Hamas-controlled territory.

The IDF spokesperson said they were investigating the circumstances of Tuesday’s incident. The man was believed to be a member of Israel’s Bedouin Arab minority, but no other details were released.

The man was seen by IDF observers scrambling over the border fence, and soldiers from the Givati infantry brigade, which patrols the area, were called to the scene near HaBesor Stream.

On the other side of the fence is the Palestinian city of Khan Yunis which is guarded by Hamas security personnel.

Witnesses in the Gaza Strip reported Israeli spotter aircraft overhead.

Hamas declined comment.
