Cuomo Enacts New Rules on Child Care Safety

ALBANY (AP) -

New York State is taking action to crack down on unsafe and illegal child-care services.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday issued new regulations clarifying the state’s power to suspend or revoke the licenses of providers who violate health and safety standards. The offical registry of child-care providers will now include inspection history and six years of past violations. The directive increases fines for “serious” offenses such as fire, safety and health hazards.
