Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman, in consultation with Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon, appointed two new chairmen to the government-owned Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and Israel Military Industries (IMI).
Former Agriculture Minister and Yair Shamir was designated as Chairman of IAI, and former Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch was named as Chairman of IMI.
“These are the most suitable people for the jobs, and they will march the companies they head forward,” Liberman said of the two appointees.
Both served as ministers from Liberman’s own Yisrael Beytenu party, but they have since left politics.
They bring considerable military, security and administrative experience to their new jobs. Besides having been Minister of Agriculture, Shamir was a fighter pilot. Aharanovitch was also commander of the Border Police and director general of the Dan bus company.
