The Industrial Business Council of Haifa and the Northern Region has signed an agreement with the Business Council of Antwerp, Belgium, to develop closer business ties and send delegations to each country in order to develop those ties.

Among the details of the agreement is a section that will give both parties preference in projects sponsored by the European Union and other organizations.

The deal was signed by David Castel, head of the Israeli group, along with Michael Markowitz, an honorary consul of Belgium in Haifa, together with Stefan Warbick, of the Antwerp council. Warbick was part of a larger group from Antwerp, which included the mayor of Antwerp, Bart De Wever.

A delegation from Portugal is set to visit Haifa this week, to examine deals in the areas of food, textiles and clinical research.
