Cold War-Era Cylinders Found At Former Test Site
Construction work has been halted at an upstate New York high-tech manufacturing complex after old cylinders from the property’s stint as a Cold War rocket fuel test site were discovered.
Workers found 34 cylinders buried about 500 feet from the parking lot at the Luther Forest Technology Campus. The EPA recommended closing an area near where the cylinders were found but said they do not pose a danger if left undisturbed.
Luther Forest was home to a government site for rocket and weapons testing starting at the end of World War II and lasting into the 1990s.
