A Border Guard officer was badly injured Shabbos morning while on patrol near a checkpoint south of Yerushalayim. The injury occurred after Israeli forces opened fire at an Arab vehicle that was attempting to drive past the checkpoint. A bullet or piece of glass hit the officer, injuring him. The officer was being treated at a Yerushalayim hospital.

On Friday, terrorists threw several firebombs at Israeli forces on patrol in Chevron. There were no Israeli injuries, and soldiers pursued the rioters.

Meanwhile, opposition forces in Syria said that Israeli planes hit a communication center belonging to the Syrian army in the area of Homs. Witnesses reported that they had seen planes with Israeli insignia drop several bombs on the center, which was also storing weapons. Several people were killed and injured, they said. Israel had no comment on the report.
