Israeli Delegation Arrives for Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul

The World Humanitarian Summit opened in Istanbul, with a senior Israeli delegation in attendance for the first time in five years.

Foreign Ministry Director Dore Gold headed the delegation, and opened the Israel booth, which displays the country’s extraordinary emergency rescue and medical assistance operations worldwide.

At the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Israeli exhibit, Gold said that Israeli humanitarian intervention around the world reflects the great value Jewish tradition places on saving lives, and in that spirit Israelis rush to help in disaster areas from Turkey to Haiti.

The annual gathering is held to promote awareness of the need for greater international efforts in providing aid to victims of natural disasters and armed conflicts.
