Arab Teen Caught With Knife on Way to Damascus Gate

YERUSHALAYIM -

A stabbing attack was thwarted on Thursday evening in Yerushalayim when security forces arrested an Arab teen on his way to the Old City carrying a knife, according to media reports.

The suspect was planning a terror attack, according to an initial police report.

The 16-year-old was boarding a bus in Shuafat headed for the Damascus Gate when Police and Border Police officers spotted him. A subsequent stop and search revealed a butterfly knife in his possession.

This incident comes days after a Palestinian man stabbed and slightly wounded a Jewish youth near the Damascus Gate before being overpowered and arrested by Border Police officers after a short pursuit on foot.
