FBI Head Says He’s Unfamiliar With “Security Inquiry” Term
FBI Director James Comey says he’s not familiar with the terminology the Clinton campaign often uses to discuss an ongoing investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server.
Comey was asked at a roundtable discussion with reporters Wednesday about whether the agency was doing a “security inquiry.”
That’s a term, along with “security review,” that Clinton and her aides have used in interviews and statements to characterize the investigation.
He said he doesn’t know what that term means. He said the FBI conducts investigations, not “security inquiries.”
Comey repeatedly declined to offer specifics about the investigation, including when it might conclude. He reiterated that there was no specific timeline for completion.
