High-Tech Sensors Coming to Historic Brooklyn Borough Hall

NEW YORK (AP) —

Sensors that monitor energy usage, overcrowding and whether a handicap-accessible entrance is blocked are being installed at Brooklyn’s historic Borough Hall.

The monitoring system is part of a new pilot program involving the office of Borough President Eric Adams, the computer company Dell and tech startup flowthings.io. Officials say the information will be used for tech research in other cities.

Adams says government has to keep up with technological advances. Brooklyn Borough Hall is a 168-year old Greek Revival-style building.
